India's adoption-first STEM model

The labs are built.
ATALUP switches
them on.

India invested ₹2,000 Cr in 10,000 tinkering labs. Nine in ten sit underutilized. We turn them into daily student activity — measured in minutes, not machines.

Why we exist

Infrastructure was funded. Engagement wasn't.

India has already invested over ₹2,000 crore to establish 10,000 ATL labs, with plans to expand to 60,000+ under the next phase. At the same time, NEP 2020 calls for a fundamental shift from theory to experiential learning. Together, these create one of education's largest implementation challenges: ensuring every lab becomes an active learning space, not just an installed asset.

ATL so far · 2016–21
  • 10,000 ATL labs set up nationwide
  • ₹2,000 Cr invested — ₹20L per school over 5 years
  • ₹12L Year-1 grant + ₹2L/yr operations
  • Goal: 1 million Neoteric Innovators
Expansion ahead · 2026–30
  • 50,000 additional ATLs announced
  • ₹10,000 Cr budget — ₹400 Cr in FY25–26, ₹3,200 Cr in FY26–27
  • 60,000+ labs across India
  • Same model, 6× the scale — unless adoption is fixed first

NEP 2020 mandates the shift from theory to experiential learning. 14.5 lakh schools need hands-on learning — a massive responsibility.

The result: 90% of labs remain underutilized. Current ATL favours infrastructure over engagement.

What we do

An app that turns idle labs into daily tinkering habits.

Students follow gamified, hands-on activities starting with zero equipment. Teachers facilitate instead of instruct. Principals see every minute of activity on one dashboard.

📱

Digital first

App-based learning — works on the devices schools already have.

🏆

Gamification

Points, streaks and badges keep students coming back daily.

Easy implementation

Minimal teacher dependency — students drive their own journey.

📈

Scalable rollout

Reduced friction, so one district or one state onboards the same way.

Why this works for every school

No lab needed

Tinkering starts on day one, hardware comes later.

NEP aligned

Directly delivers the experiential-learning mandate.

Proves readiness

Usage data shows which schools deserve investment.

Equity

Every student tinkers — not just the well-equipped few.

How it works

Start free. Prove readiness. Strengthen your funding case.

Adoption comes first, hardware second. Schools begin at zero cost and climb readiness levels — building verified evidence that strengthens their case for government ATL grants or corporate CSR funding.

1

Download & login

Teachers and students join in minutes. No lab, no equipment, no fees to begin.

2

Run the 21-day journey

Daily bite-sized tinkering activities build the habit — gamified with points, streaks and badges.

3

Upload evidence

Students post photos and videos of what they built. Activity is verified, not assumed.

4

Track on the dashboard

Principals see participation, minutes and outcomes per class — in real time.

5

Get certified

Students and teachers earn recognition that proves the school's tinkering readiness.

6

Make your funding case

Verified adoption data becomes evidence — for a government ATL grant or corporate CSR support.

Readiness levels — our proposed disbursement guide for government

📋
Our proposal to government — not a payment from or to ATALUP

The amounts below are ATALUP's recommended disbursement tiers — our proposal for how government (and CSR partners) could size ATL funding to a school's verified, in-app adoption, instead of a flat grant. ATALUP doesn't disburse this money and doesn't charge it either. Your school's job is to build the adoption record; the tier is the funding case that record supports.
